Bexhill has a wonderful location and apart from its 1066 historical surroundings there is a great deal to do in the town.

Bexhill has an excellent residential seafront with easy free parking and an award winning beach. The promenade stretches for miles from the Trafalgar Beacon on Galley Hill to Cooden, and offers spectacular views and perhaps the chance to watch the Sailing Club or Rowing Club in action. Our numerous sporting facilities include tennis, bowls, squash, golf, cricket, football, swimming and, of course, a fully equipped leisure centre and an indoor leisure pool complex.

Bexhill is renowned as the ‘birthplace of British motor racing’ and there are frequent displays of cars from all eras throughout the year. The De La Warr Pavilion, a world renowned Modernist icon, has been recently refurbished and offers an opportunity to see contemporary art exhibitions, to dine on superb cuisine, to enjoy breathtaking views ,hold conferences and take in a show – and all in one magnificent building.

The town offers a great variety of independent shops and yet has easy access to a retail park. However, please don’t forget to visit the Bexhill Museum set in Egerton Park. Follow the signs to the Old Town and you will find the enchanting award winning Manor Barn Gardens and the Costume Museum .St Peter’s Church, founded in the eighth century, and is regarded as one of the most beautiful churches in England.

Bexhill has excellent award winning seafront restaurants, and international cuisine is readily available in the town. It is a well known destination for people who enjoy a quality dining experience.

The town still retains its historical charm but is embracing the future. It has a modern college, exceptionally high secondary education standards, and offers excellent primary and nursery education.

It is an honour to be Mayor of this town and I hope you enjoy your visit or stay.

Street entertainment in the Summer

We were delighted when renowned travel writer Frank Barrett writing in the national newspaper The Mail on Sunday picked Bexhill on Sea as one of his top ten UK beach resorts. Here is what Frank had to say:
“Once a popular resort with Edwardian aristocracy, Bexhill-on-Sea is now enjoying a revival thanks to the inspired refurbishment of the striking modernist 1930’s De La Warr Pavilion – a Grade 1 listed building – which has become an arts and social centre.

It’s perfect for a day out, with two miles of promenade running behind a long, gently shelving shingle beach with fine stretches of sand on the lower foreshore.
Beach: Long, gently sloping – mainly shingle near to the promenade: bring your deck chairs.
Water quality: Seaside Award.
Safety:
Well supervised.
Amenities:
The town offers lots of good restaurants, pubs and pavement cafes. Parking: There are plenty of car parks in the town and parking near the seafront". © Frank Barrett and the Mail on Sunday

Set in the midst of 1066 country Bexhill offers a quiet charm missing from many larger, well known seaside resorts. In fact little has changed here since the 1950’s and 60’s so for a bit of quiet nostalgia come and visit Bexhill on Sea.

You will find it easy to walk along our wide and level promenade. Take the time to admire our magnificent Victorian and Edwardian buildings, sit and enjoy the view across the English Channel from one of our Victorian shelters. Lot’s of free parking at any time very nearly the entire length of our 3 mile promenade.
