Your services or goods will be promoted, our Communications
Officer is frequently asked for suppliers from people who
either are members or from non members. This service is ongoing
and members are often unaware that they are being promoted
in this way.
All members receive a 10% discount
off their advert in the official town guide that
is not only available for visitors but is also delivered to
every household in Bexhill. Members also receive a substantial
discount on the Radio Relay Scheme for the town centre. We
also host free networking events. Membership is not just for
those working within the town centre, many of our members
are from Little Common/Sidley and many work from home offices.
You do not have to be based in Bexhill but you must be actively
doing business in the town. The Public frequently contact
the Chamber for advice on services available in the town,
who stocks what etc. Naturally, we only promote and recommend
our Members.
We can help you with advice and,
if appropriate, support should you have a Planning dispute,
disputes with your commercial rates, or advice on other business
matters. We can also offer advice with compliance
with the Disability Discrimination Act Part III (Access for
All) this Act will effect ALL businesses and is due to become
law in October 2004.
Much of the Chamber effort is behind the
scenes we have an Executive Committee, these members work
very hard on behalf of businesses in the town. We took the
lead on the Making Bexhill Better Campaign – in fact
it was our idea! We were instrumental in securing
over £400K of investment over 3 years into the town
centre. We are also the driving force behind Bexhill
in Bloom and the campaign and fund raising for Christmas lights
in the town centre and have organized the Music Hall Event
to raise funds for the lighting. We have recently been running
free computer training courses for businesses, naturally Members
have first choice of the dates available, then we go out to
the rest of the town with whatever dates are left.
Our Executive Committee Members belong
to committees where they can influence future decisions and
put forward the viewpoint of our members. We are frequently
asked by various local government organisations for the views
of our membership. If you would be interested in joining our
Executive Committee please let us know – we
welcome new views and opinions to our committee.
Groups and Organisations where we have a
representative include: Bexhill Regeneration Partnership,
Bexhill Regeneration Partnership Town Centre and Tourism Action
Group & Inward Investment Group, Education Business Partnership,
Police Crime & Disorder Group, Bexhill in Bloom, 1066
Marketing, Ten Sixty Six Enterprise.
We also organize the annual Bexhill
Achievers Awards – this comprises of six awards to residents
and businesses who have either made an achievement or have
given superb customer service in the town.
If you would like your viewpoint
to be heard – join us. If you
